Queenstown transport business cases since 2017

New Zealand transport projects funded through NZTA follow a staged business case process. A programme business case sets out the problem and the mix of responses. Indicative and detailed business cases then test the options and make the investment case for specific packages. A single-stage business case combines these steps for smaller projects.

Since 2017 Queenstown has had business cases at each stage:

  • Programme business cases: the Queenstown Integrated Transport Programme Business Case (QTS-006), the Town Centre Masterplan programme (QTS-011) and the Te Kirikiri Frankton programme (QTS-026).
  • Indicative business cases: town centre parking (QTS-008), public and passenger transport facilities (QTS-010), and the 2024 Queenstown Public Transport Business Case (QTS-095).
  • Single-stage business case: the Wakatipu Active Travel Network (QTS-023).
  • Detailed business case: the 2020 Queenstown Business Case (QTS-062, summary QTS-050), with its appendices.

This page lists every business case, chapter and appendix held in the archive, so the options assessments, economic cases and costings can be read in the original documents.
