In 2018 Queenstown Airport Corporation (QAC) consulted on expanding the airport's air noise boundaries. It cited forecast demand rising from 3.2 million passenger movements in 2025 to 7.1 million in 2045 (F1 p4), and proposed boundaries allowing 41,600 scheduled aircraft movements (about 5.1 million passengers) by 2045, compared with the 21,000 allowed by the current boundaries (F1 p5). The Mitchell Daysh outcomes report covers the five-week consultation from 17 July to 20 August 2018 (F2 p4). It received 1,451 online survey responses, plus email, community group (including a petition of 818), organisation and individual submissions (F2 pp7–8). 92.5% of survey respondents opposed the proposal and 3.7% supported it (F2 p11).
